Zigmoidal is a passion project nearly 20 years in the making, sparked by a chance encounter with an E86 coupe on a morning jog in 2007. Since then, the story around the BMW Z series has been a constant fascination.
Zigmoidal exists to capture that fascination and share it with others. It’s built to be the go-to resource for Z enthusiasts on buying, selling, repairing, modifying, owning, and appreciating a BMW Z Series.

The word Zigmoidal began as a simple but satisfying leap of logic. A similar word, sigmoidal, describes an S-shaped curve in mathematics, science, and engineering and is used to express the behavior of systems such as suspension damping and throttle response.
Zigmoidal is a riff on this word, literally meaning Z-shaped, but figuratively representing all-things BMW Z series. The “z-shape” concept is a playful way to give a nod to the design of these cars, and to the brand. But it also represents the way the cars behave on the road, the attitudes of the people who drive them, and the culture that surrounds everything about these cars.
More than a name, Zigmoidal is a reflection of the beauty, performance, and feeling created by driving and owning these cars, and of the enthusiasts who continue to carry Z series car culture forward.
